Hi Sharvonique:

Thank you for posting this info about Black Women in Animation. I am an aspiring animator and a woman of color who needed to know that there are other animators like me who have been successful in the industry. I am hoping someday to meet them all and talk about the business of animation. Keep posting more info.

Hey, I was taking a little break and playing google roulette with my name When I came across your Blog.

Thanks for the mention. As long as you're talking about folks branching out into other Genres, I thought I would add that I'm branching out into live action. God willing I hope to make the jump there. I'm in the final days of post production on a short film called "Witt's Daughter" but you can check out the web site with an early trailer, pictures, a blog and bios for some to the crew and talented cast for the film if you're interested.

Thanks! I mentioned Cilia in the actual UVC article. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to view any of her work or find any current information about her.

I also mention Shawnee and Shawnelle Gibbs

Thanks Nancy!

Brenda Banks didn't come up in my original research. I did a search for her name after reading your post, but was only able to find her filmography: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0052105/.

Hi Sharvonique,

You shouldn't forget Brenda Banks, the first Black woman animator. She worked for Ralph Bakshi on some of his non-rotoscoped films.
Carole, a Black barmaid, was one of the main characters in Bakshi's HEAVY TRAFFIC.
