Thank you for posting this info about Black Women in Animation. I am an aspiring animator and a woman of color who needed to know that there are other animators like me who have been successful in the industry. Thanks for the mention. As long as you’re talking about folks branching out into other Genres, I thought I would add that I’m branching out into live action. God willing I hope to make the jump there. Brenda Banks didn’t come up in my original research. I did a search for her name after reading your post, but was only able to find her filmography: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0052105/.

You shouldn’t forget Brenda Banks, the first Black woman animator. She worked for Ralph Bakshi on some of his non-rotoscoped films.
Carole, a Black barmaid, was one of the main characters in Bakshi’s HEAVY TRAFFIC.
